Review & Testing Methodology

The majority of vehicle content on Top10EV at present is research-based. That means we have not driven, charged or measured the specific vehicle. Instead, we synthesise manufacturer specifications, homologation data, third-party test reports and owner-reported figures, each cited on the affected page. A research-based review is labelled 'Research-based review' or, for a general topic, 'Editorial analysis'. It represents Top10EV's assessment of publicly available information as at the publication date, not the result of any Top10EV test.

A page is labelled 'Top10EV verified testing' only when a member of the Top10EV team has physically taken possession of the vehicle, performed the tests described on the page, and the resulting data has been reviewed by a second editor before publication. Every 'Top10EV verified testing' page describes the specific test protocol used, the date and location of testing, the ambient conditions and the exact vehicle identifier (variant and, where possible, VIN prefix).

Range figures on Top10EV are classified into five categories, each labelled on the vehicle page: (a) 'Manufacturer claimed range' — the range figure published by the manufacturer, usually derived from a homologation test but presented on marketing material without qualification; (b) 'Certified range' — the range figure published in a homologation report by an accredited body such as ARAI (MIDC cycle) or, where relevant, WLTP data from Euro NCAP or the manufacturer's regulatory filing; (c) 'Independent reported range' — a range figure reported by a named third-party publication or independent tester, with a link to the source; (d) 'Owner reported range' — an aggregated figure drawn from owner surveys or forums, with the sample size and methodology stated; and (e) 'Top10EV tested range' — a range figure from a Top10EV verified test, with the protocol documented on the affected page.

Charging time is reported as either 'Manufacturer claim (10–80%)' — as published by the manufacturer, typically at optimal charger and cell temperature — or 'Top10EV tested (10–80%)', where Top10EV has measured the session, in which case the charger model, peak charger power, ambient temperature and starting state of charge are recorded.

Safety ratings on Top10EV are drawn only from a recognised accredited body — Bharat NCAP, Global NCAP or Euro NCAP — and the source assessment is linked. Top10EV does not perform crash tests and does not accept manufacturer safety claims.

Ex-showroom prices are drawn from the manufacturer's official price list on the date shown on the vehicle page. On-road figures, where shown, include indicative RTO, road tax and typical insurance, and are marked as estimates that vary by state and dealer.

Prices and variant availability are reviewed at least monthly. Specifications are reviewed when a manufacturer publishes an update. Every vehicle record shows its 'data as of' date so readers can judge how current the information is.

We do not fabricate range figures, charging sessions, road tests, long-term reviews, first drives or ownership experiences. We do not use terms such as 'verified real-world', 'independently tested by Top10EV' or 'long-term review' on a page where we have not performed the corresponding test. Any page found to breach this rule is corrected on identification under the Corrections Policy.
